Bradley S. Farr

Bradley S. Farr, 74, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his home.

There are no calling hours or funeral services. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Brad was born in Carthage on June 5, 1949, the son of Sterling and Claudia (Weaver) Farr.

He graduated from Gouverneur High School and served in the United States Army Reserve.

Brad worked for Verizon as a splicer and then as a foreman.

He married Ann Messier on July 26, 1969.

Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing, remote control car racing, and tinkering on things. He belonged to Half Moon Hunting Club near Natural Bridge.

He is survived by his wife Ann, his children Kristie L. Farr, Tony S. and Tsveta Farr, Jamie M. and Sarah Farr, his grandkids Hannah Fuller, Dylan, Ashton, and Taylor Farr, Brennan, Gabriella, and Reese Farr. Brad is also survived by his siblings Iris Pike, Rick Gerber, and Cindy Repp, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother and father.

Dale D. Hutton

Dale David Hutton, age 73, of Fowler, passed away on October 16, 2023 at his home.

His memorial service will be private. There will be a Celebration of Life held at The Glow in Edwards on Friday, October 20, 2023 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Dale was born at his parents’ home in Rossie on December 28, 1949. His parents were the late Ai “Stub” Baxter Hutton and Betty Irene (Swem) Hutton. He graduated from Hammond Central School.

Dale married his best friend, Marie A. Luther on August 20, 2005 at “The River”, their camp in Rossie. They were together over 35 years. Dale began working for his parents on their farm as a young man. He then worked as a miner for St. Joe and as a paper maker for the Natural Dam Paper Mill. He transferred to the Newton Falls Paper Mill where he worked his way up to Technical Service Representative and retired from there after 34 years of service. Dale worked at the Deferiet Paper Mill until the facility closed and then worked as a CDL driver for Hilltop Energy until retiring in 2012.

Dale was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and riding 4-wheelers and his side by side. He loved going to “The River” to stay at camp, sitting at the “Round Table” to have drinks with family and friends, and especially spending time with those he loved, including his dog, Marley.

Dale was a member of Wildwood Masonic Lodge #477, and a life time member of Pine Hill Pond Hunting Club, and Hall’s Huntin’ Haven.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Hutton, daughters, Beverly and Howard Phelps and Donna Hutton, brother-in-law, Richard Davidson, grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Michelle Phelps, Jordan Phelps and companion Amanda Cox, Jacey Phelps and companion, Dylan Clement, Camron Lancto and his companion, Sierra Lashua, his great-grandchildren, twins, Jackson and John Phelps, and Hudson Dale Phelps, his beloved dog and constant companion, Marley, his friend, Bob Webster, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents and four siblings, Marguerite Davidson, and in infancy, Ai Hutton, Jr., Donald Hutton, and Venita Hutton.

Gloria Jean Monroe

Gloria Jean Monroe, 80, died at home Tuesday, October 10, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by her sons. 

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Antwerp at the First Congregational Church UCC with Rev. Gail Parsons officiating. The service will be followed by a reception at the Antwerp American Legion Post 916. There are no calling hours, per Jean’s request.

She was born July 29, 1943, at Maple Ridge Road in Dekalb as the daughter of the late Edwin Masters and Olive (Porteous) Masters. Known as “Jean” to everyone, she graduated from Indian River Central School district on June 27, 1960. She married the late Gerald F. Dean of Antwerp on August 24, 1962 with whom she raised seven boys.

She was a homemaker, an avid reader, loved crocheting, doing crosswords, crafts and putting puzzles together. Her family will always remember how she enjoyed working at flea markets as well as her passion for holidays, growing flowers, baking, plays and musicals. Church and helping others were very important to her, and she greatly valued spending time with family and friends. She was also a member of the Earnest Rebekah Lodge #16 100F for many years.

She is survived by her sons, David (Kristina) of Antwerp; Timothy, Thomas, Andrew, Gary all of Antwerp; Robert (Rhiannon) of Cudahy, Wisconsin, and Matthew of Fowler; a sister Deborah (Jerrold) of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren Christine, Robert, Austin, Chloe, Zach, Nicholas, Mikayla, Cassidy, Deanthony, Alexander, Brianna, Melody, Jake, Tyler, Gabriel; and many nieces and nephews.

After Gerald’s passing on April 20, 1996, Jean married Burl Hendrickson on February 14, 1998. Burl suddenly passed away December 27, 2001. She later married Francis Monroe June 26, 2011, who passed January 17, 2016.

Besides being predeceased by her mother, father and husbands, Jean was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Mason of Gouverneur, and Edith “Faye” Norton of Theresa.

Jakari Zayne Lamay

Jakari Zayne Lamay, four months old, passed away on Tuesday, October10, 2023.

Jakari was born on June 10, 2023 in Potsdam, the son of Jordan Lamay and Hubertson “Jay” Guerrier.

He is survived by his parents Jordan and Jay, his siblings Connor, Dylon, Elijah, and Ky’Ree, his grandparents Tina and DaQuan Hendricks of Gouverneur, Dale Lamay Jr of Gouverneur, Eneve and Anite Guerrier of New York City, his great grandparents Dale Lamay Sr (Marilyn) of Ogdensburg and Charles Eells of Massena, his aunt Vydalia Lamay and cousin Omari of Gouverneur, uncle Austin Lamay of Gouverneur, uncle Marcellus Lamay of Gouverneur, uncle Chistopher Guerrier of New York city, uncle Harry Guerrier of New York City, uncle Fritz Guerrier of New York City, Aunt Lovely of New York City, Aunt Marie of New York city and  Aunt Luna of Maryland, great aunt Erica Eells (Chad) of Potsdam and Tonia Blackman (Nada) of Watertown, great aunt Tanya Brown of Gouverneur and great uncle Roy Lamay (Amanda) of Gouverneur, and many great cousins Jakari was preceded in death by his great grandma Nancy Bailey and great grandma Linda Flagg.

Jakari is the light of our lives. He had the smile that would light up the room, always a happy boy, loved to coo and smile at his brothers, mommy and daddy. He enjoyed tummy time with his cousin Omari (same age). 

Jakari is our sweet angel. We all love you too infinite and beyond and you will forever be in our hearts our sweet precious boy.

Leo G. Rastley Jr.

Leo G. Rastley Jr., 86, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Church in Rossie with burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the Rossie Community Center. Calling hours are on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur.

Leo was born in Gouverneur on March 28, 1937, the son of Leo G. and Viola Edna (Taylor) Rastley.

He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.

Leo married Lona Youngs on June 4, 1960.

The couple owned and operated the Oxbow Country Store for 20 years. Leo was a farmer and a schoolbus driver for 25 years. He also worked as a carpenter and horse farrier.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and St. Lawrence Valley Draft Horse Club. Leo served as a 4-H leader and enjoyed raccoon hunting in his younger years, especially with his favorite Redbone Hound Daisy. He also liked to take his draft horses, especially Sam and Jack, to 4-H Club events and local parades. Leo rode his Arabian stallion in those parades too and gave wagon rides and sleigh rides to the community.

He is survived by his wife Lona, his 4 sons Michael and Becky of Oswego, Patrick and Jennifer of Gouverneur, Thomas and Paula of Watertown, Lee and Becca of Rossie, his 2 daughters Rosanna and Bernard Trombley of Albany, Carmel Rastley of Potsdam, 15 grandchildren, a brother Franklin David and Shirley Rastley, many nieces and nephews. Leo is predeceased by his parents, a son Joseph, 3 brothers John, George, and Don, 3 sisters Viola Fukes, Eleanor Simmons, and Jean Howard.

Eudora (Keller) Brown

Eudora (Keller) Brown passed away at Gouverneur Hospital on October 3rd after a brief illness. Eudora resided on Parker St. in Gouverneur most of her adult life. She was born on January 13, 1939 at E.J. Noble Hospital to George and Elgreta (LaDuke) Keller. Eudora attended Gouverneur schools graduating from GHS in June of 1958. Eudora married Richard Brown on June 14th of 1958.

Eudora was a homemaker throughout her adult life enjoying preparing large meals for her family, baking. babysitting, home crafts, enjoying the flower garden planted by her husband. She truly enjoyed leisurely car rides on warm summer days throughout the rural countryside with her husband over many years. In addition enjoyed the companionship of many dogs over the years.

Eudora and her husband were blessed to have raised five children. Survivors include Lorinda Zira (Robert Bowman) of Fowler, Datus Brown and companion of Gouverneur, Lisa (Todd) McIntosh of Gouverneur, Lonnie Brown of Gouverneur and Shaun (Valerie) Brown of Balmat in addition to 10 grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren. In addition she is survived by a brother Gary (Cheryl) Keller of Ogdensburg and a sister Darlene Hastings of Gouverneur. She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard, her parents and brother Robert Keller all of Gouverneur.

William Henry Lutz Sr.

William Henry Lutz Sr., 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at North Country Nursing & Rehabilitation in Massena.

A private burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Arrangements are with Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Henry was born on January 21, 1937 in Edwards, the son of Vernon and Mary (Girard) Lutz.

Following high school graduation, he worked a variety of jobs. Henry worked for Al Pascoe, E.J. Noble/Gouverneur Hospital, Pine Grove Apartments, as the Town of Fowler Supervisor, and Southwest Tech BOCES, among others.

Henry married his wife Julia Hayden on July 22, 1960 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church.

He had served as a Fowler Town councilman and for the Edwards Lions Club.

Henry enjoyed rv camping, the family cottage at Trout Lake, snowmobiling, and took pride in his work.

He is survived by his companion Carol Sibley, his sons William H. Lutz Jr. and his wife Janice, John Lutz and his wife Kristina, his siblings Sue “Lila” Hale, Gary Lutz, Donna Barlow, Bonnie Seaman, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Prashaw, several nieces and nephews. Henry is predeceased by his parents, his wife Julia, his son Bruce Lutz, his siblings Vernon Lutz Jr., Betty Dwyer, Virginia Mussaw, Shirley Sheen, Bert Lutz, Marion Twining, and Lucky Lutz.

Doris D. Armstrong

Doris D. Armstrong, 76, loving wife and mother , passed away on Friday, September 22nd, 2023 at her home. She died suddenly while preparing to be transported to a doctor’s appointment. Her husband Milton and grandson Ethan were attending to her at the time of her passing, and she went quietly to sleep in Jesus.

Doris was born nee Smith in Brooklyn, NY at Kings County Hospital on November 11th, 1946.

Doris and Milton sired six children, twin girls Sharee and Renee who predeceased her. She leaves behind her husband Milton L. Armstrong of Antwerp, daughter Wanda White and sons Richard, Gregory, Milton, and Raheem, all of Watertown, sister-in-law Janice Hibbler of Watertown, grandson Ethan S. Grant who resided with the couple, and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.

Her husband and companion of sixty-two years is looking forward to reuniting with Doris at the coming of Jesus. Gouverneur Seventh Day Adventist Church was the home church of Doris.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th at 10:00 am at the Gouverneur Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Julie (Todd) Griffin

Julie (Todd) Griffin, 67, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on September 3, 2023 in Maryland.

Julie was born on December 23, 1955 in Canton, NY to the late Lawrence and Joan (Ladouceur) Todd.

She graduated from high school in 1974 and joined the United States Army for a 22 year career. She was an E6 when she retired.

Julie married Roy Griffin on March 4, 1978.

She is survived by her husband Roy, her son Michael, her grandchildren Jayde Duncan, Michael, Jordan, Jace, and Cali Griffin, her sisters Cathy and Benton Leslie, Sheila and Dale Johnson, Diane and David Wood, her brothers Randy Todd and Barb Langevin, and Robert Todd, several nieces and nephews. Also an aunt, uncle and several cousins.

Julie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Charlotte L. “Lottie” Gillett

Charlotte L. “Lottie” Gillett, 99, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00 am at Spragueville Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Charlotte was born in Brasher Falls on September 11, 1924, the daughter of Douglas and Mildred (LaVare) Sawyer.

She worked on the family farm, subbed as the Spragueville postmaster, was a waitress at local establishments such as Penguin Lanes bowling alley and Casablanca Restaurant, and also worked at the Natural Dam paper mill.

Lottie married Glenn Gillett on November 30, 1941.

Glenn passed away on April 15, 1983.

Lottie had served as a 4-H leader and had assisted at the Gouverneur Elks Lodge.

She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, trapping, and spending time at her hunting camp in Fullerville. Lottie also enjoyed gardening, bowling, cooking, baking, and making rock and mineral jewelry.

Lottie is survived by her companion Louis Pokorney, her children Edwin and Kathryn Gillett of Constableville, Carolyn and Joseph Millard of Carthage, Nancy Booking of Deferiet, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter Joyce Clintsman, brothers infant Douglas Jr., Leighton, Richard, Cecil, Donald, and Lawrence Sawyer, sisters infant Pansy Sawyer and Beulah Lashua.

Gary G. Jareo

Gary G. Jareo, 75, passed away at Gouverneur Hospital on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Gary was born in Watertown on June 20, 1948, the son of Claude Stephen and Betty Jean (Weaver) Jareo.

Following graduation from Henderson High School, he attended Clarkson University and Canton ATC.

Gary worked for various contracting companies, many years with Brown & Storie Company in Gouverneur. He retired from Carpenters Local #277.

He was a member of the SONS of the American Legion Post #65 in Gouverneur. Gary enjoyed running his sled dogs, traveling for trials with his fox hounds, hunting, and watching television Westerns.

Gary married Donna Robinson in Gouverneur on November 15, 1991.

Previous marriages ended in divorce.

Gary is survived by his wife Donna, his children Carrie and William Cousino, Steven and Sarah Burke, Christi Hutchinson and her companion Mike, Amy Burke and her companion James, Scott and Shelley Jareo, Benjamin Jareo, Polly and Steve Birtch, Stephanie and Bennie Hodkinson, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and several of his siblings.

Beverly M. Reed

Beverly M. Reed, age 79, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Gouverneur Hospital.

Beverly was born on August 27, 1944 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Howard E. and Doris M. (McIntyre) Fuller. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1962 and then went on to graduate on April 1, 1963 from Colonna Beauty School in Albany. She married Fay O. Reed on March 6, 1965 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Brown officiating. Fay passed away on December 12, 2007.

Beverly owned and operated Bev’s Beauty Shop in Gouverneur from 1963-1972. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting, cooking and babysitting.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Steven Wilcutt; a grandson and his wife, Joseph and Katie White; and close nieces and nephews that were more like siblings, Bonnie Walker, Howard Fuller, Brenda Tebo, Michael Fuller, Danielle Aguirre, Angela Aguirre and Cyle Fuller.

Beverly is predeceased by two brothers, William (Mack) Fuller and Glenn Fuller.

Bonnie Lee Wylie

Bonnie Lee Wylie, 58, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at her home.

Arrangements are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Bonnie was born in Ogdensburg on November 23, 19764, the daughter of Nelson Roy and Yvonne Pearl (Farrell) Powell.

She married Everett Wylie on September 2, 2000 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Gouverneur.

Bonnie was previously married to Jeff Kloster who predeceased her.

She had worked as a bartender and for several municipalities as a dog control officer among other jobs.

Bonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, attending yard sales and auctions. She also enjoyed djing, playing and listening to music, picking on her dog Gunner, and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Watertown VFW and Elks Club, and the Croghan American Legion.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Everett, her mother Yvonne Stevens, her children Johnathon Rafferty, Stacey Rafferty, Patricia Rafferty and her companion Bernie Miles, Jordan Wylie and her family, Lacie Wylie, and Daniel Wylie, and many grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Christine Sellers, Karry LaForest, James Powell, and Angela Roach, several nieces and nephews. Bonnie is predeceased by her father, her daughters Amy-
Jo Kloster and Shannon Rafferty, and her husband Jeff.

Daniel Fetcie

Daniel P. Fetcie, age 82, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on September 3, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

There will be a funeral Mass held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Gouverneur. Burial will follow in the New St. James Cemetery. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Daniel was born on April 14, 1941 in Little Falls to the late Daniel H. and Frances (Gratto) Fetcie. He graduated from Canton Central School and married Annetta Butler on September 18, 1965. Annetta passed away on April 5, 2007.

Dan retired from Gouverneur Talc after 25 years of working as an electrician, crusher operator, and heavy equipment operator. He had previously worked for St. Joe Minerals for over 10 years and had worked at the Kraft plant in Canton.

Dan had built his own house on Route 58, was into mountain climbing and completed all 46 High Peaks climbs, and enjoyed reading, needlepoint and camping. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he was actively involved for several years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel R. and Tammy Fetcie, sisters-in-law, Darlene Fetcie, Karen Forsythe, and Sandy Bartlett, and his nieces and nephews.

Dan is predeceased by his wife, Annetta, and brothers, Franklin and Michael Fetcie.

Richard Arthur Hatch

Richard Arthur Hatch, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Wilmington, NC on August 28th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard, “Dick”, was born in Ogdensburg, NY on August 26,1942 to Richard Hatch and Mary Fuller Hatch.

Richard shared a wonderful life with his beloved wife, Mary (Messier) whom he married on October 23, 1959. Mary was the love of his life. Together, they raised their family in Gouverneur, NY, before relocating to Wilmington, NC, to enjoy their well-deserved retirement years. Family gatherings and visits from their children and grandchildren were cherished moments for Richard and Mary.

As a young man Richard worked as a farmhand, a construction worker, and as a milkman for Mercer's Dairy, His true calling came when he went to work for St. Joe Minerals Co., where he dedicated 45 years of his life to mining zinc. As a hoist operator, Richard became a master of his position, ensuring the safety of his fellow miners for over 35 years.

Richard found joy and fulfillment in his wide array of interests. He was a sports enthusiast, coaching his four boys in little league baseball and basketball. His prowess on Hatch court earned him the nickname "The Veteran," thanks to his impressive two- handed jump shot. Richard's love for boxing and wrestling was unrivaled, attending numerous championship bouts and Boxing Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. He held great admiration for boxers Carmen Basilio and Mohammad Ali.  Additionally, he was an avid jogger, and could be seen running along route 58, rain or shine, for many years.

He was a devoted member of the Gouverneur Volunteer Fire Department for over two decades, forming lifelong friendships and becoming an exempt Fireman. Throughout his life, whether through his work, the fire department, or the communities he lived in, Richard established strong connections and formed enduring friendships that lasted a lifetime. Richard and Mary loved attending church together throughout the years and this was a special part of their life together.  They were also an active member of the Lifepoint community church in Wilmington, where his faith provided him with strength and guidance. Richard found solace and guidance through his relationship with Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and their four sons: Michael and Jodi Hatch of Sylvia Lake, NY; James and Ginger Hatch of Cary, NC; William and Tammy Hatch of Wilmington, NC; and Scott and Chris Hatch of Wilmington, NC. His grandchildren: Eric and Jennifer Hatch, Jennifer and Matthew Knight, Alex and Lora Hatch, Tyler Hatch, and Ryan Hatch. His great-grandchildren, Charlotte Hatch, Violet Hatch, and Miles Knight. They will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Mary Hatch, and his great granddaughter, Nora Claire Knight.

In honoring Richard's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Instead, a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date, allowing his loved ones to gather and commemorate the impact he had on each of their lives.

Sally Ann (Pickering) Sterling

Sally Ann (Pickering) Sterling, 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at North Country Nursing and Rehab in Massena.

Calling hours were on Tuesday, August 29 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. at the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, August 30 at 1p.m. at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake.

Sally was born in Tupper Lake on March 17, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Young) Pickering.

She was a homemaker, a member of the ladies auxiliary in the Star Lake American Legion, and was a lady of strong faith and belief. Sally enjoyed camping, reading, traveling, playing bingo, and bowling. She was also a coupon clipping queen, liked to shop and attend garage sales, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spending time with friends, family and her pets.

Sally was married to Richard Sterling of Gouverneur who predeceased her. She was also previously married to Ora Aldridge.

Sally is survived by her daughter Christine and Scott Sutherland of Canton, her stepchildren Steven Sterling of Indiana, Amy and Harold Simmons of Gouverneur, Scott and Tania Sterling of Gouverneur, 15 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard, her daughter Darlene Aldridge Page, and her infant brother Robert Pickering.

Lyndon John Fuller, Sr.

Lyndon John Fuller, Sr., 84, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 2:00 pm in Hailesboro Cemetery with Rev. Howard Maxson officiating. Please wear the color yellow if you attend as that was Lyndon’s favorite color. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Lyndon was born in Gouverneur on June 13, 1939, the son of John A. and Ruth (Stevens) Fuller.

He married Sally Jean Hayden on July 30, 1960.

Lyndon worked at the Gouverneur Coop from 1960 to 1968 when he started working at the paper mill in Natural Dam where he was employed until retirement in 2001.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, working in his flowerbeds, and spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, including riding his bicycle with them.

Lyndon is survived by his wife Sally, his children Lyndon Jr. and Roni Fuller, Jeffrey
Fuller, Christine and Gregory Carr, Tracey and Robert Hutton, Aaron and Tracy Fuller, 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Lyle Fuller, Ralph and Kathy Fuller, Donald “Bim” and Christine Fuller, John and Kathie Fuller, Phyllis Tripp, Janice and Roger Refici, and Glenda Bickford, several nieces and nephews. Lyndon is predeceased by his parents, his siblings Vernon and Linda Fuller, Charlotte and Claude Livingston, his in-laws Wilson Bickford, Robert Tripp Sr., and Charlotte Fuller.

William Bodah

William “Bill” Leo Bodah, age 73, of Gouverneur, passed away on August 10, 2023 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

His funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Gouverneur. At his request, there will be no calling hours. Bill was born on June 22, 1950 in Potsdam to the late Howard and Palmyra (Bennett) Bodah. He graduated from Massena Central School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Niagara University.

Bill married Linda M. (Markwick) Lashbrooks on August 11, 1989 at the United Church of Richville. Mr. Bodah retired as the Business Manager for Gouverneur Central School in 2007.

Bill was a true outdoorsman. He loved to hunt deer, bear and turkey, enjoyed fishing, and built his own hunting camp “Camp Leo”, named after his grandfather. Bill was an avid competition shooter at the Sarasota Shooting Club. He was a member of Forsythe Rifles Re-enacting with his grandson, Joshua, a member of the Gouverneur Elks Lodge, and enjoyed gunsmithing and reloading ammunition. He was a member of Palmer Hunting Club for many years and always looked forward to going there. Bill and Linda also loved spending time in their home in Florida during the winter months.

Mr. Bodah was thoughtful and frugal with money and was known to his friends as Dollar Bill. He was a member of the Gouverneur Foundation, Gouverneur-St. Lawrence County Fair Board, and the Moose Lodge in Florida.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Bodah, his son, Michael Bodah, step-children, Reneé Lashbrooks and Paul Lashbrooks, sisters, Mary Heading and her fiancé, Ron Fleury, and Jackie Premo and her husband, David. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Joshua Bennett, Zachary Bogdanich, and Josie Bodah.
